A LITTLE ABOUT GEORGIEGIRL BAKE SHOP

Hello! I'm Benjie George Skur, owner and operator of GeorgieGirl Bake Shop. I've loved baking for as long as I can remember, but it wasn't my first career path! For over 20 years I was a court reporter in Dallas/Fort Worth. One of my fondest baking-related memories from those days is making tons of homemade cookies with my sister (who is still a court reporter) at Christmastime, carefully wrapping them up on pretty platters, and delivering our homemade goodies to our clients all over the DFW area. 

I still love anything and everything to do with baking. I come from a really big family, and they have always supported me in my baking adventures. Luckily for me, my husband loves to cook as much as I love to bake. I have two grown children, Lauren and Sean, who just make me happy and keep me very entertained. I also have two handsome grandsons and one fun granddog. A shoutout to the most influential person in my life, my mom, who is an incredible baker. She has gifted more of her famous cherry cobblers than I could possibly count, and something about that has just always stuck with me. Food and the memories surrounding it are just made for sharing.

A special thank you to my friend Kimi for inviting me over back in 2014 to decorate cookies. She introduced me to the magic of royal icing that day, and I have been obsessed with it ever since!
